Atet the Sun Chariot - GODLINGS

A number of years ago I had the amazing and awesome opportunity to work on an original IP called GODLINGS, by Luke C Jackson (Narrative Immersion PTY LTD) & Percy Carey (Magnetic Force LLC).
-
I was able to bring to life a living aircraft, an ancient machine and personal ride to one of the main characters in the graphic novel. I was given a short brief with a loose description (ancient Egyptian tech) which was right up my alley! I had a lot of fun and enjoyed my short time on this immensely, I poured a lot of love into this design.
-
I present to you snippets of my creative process and journey, enjoy!

This is the final shot I took of one of the two prototypes, moments before I packed it away to send to the clients on opposite sides of the world.

Closer look at the body details. Unfortunately the bum-thruster was poo-poo'd by my client :(

Once I had the silhouette and proportions down, I tried some different wing configurations and details.

I tried to incorporate landing gear as part of the sleek design - taking care to hide the mechanisms when in flight. Unfortunately due to the direction and scale of the prototype, I had to ditch this idea.
